A museum quality, circa 1840 Mason’s lidded urn, featuring dragon finial and handles. This hand decorated urn has a “Rose Medallion” scene on one side and the “Blue Willow” scene on the other. This style of vase or urn was created to be showcased in a niche built into a home, hence they are sometimes referred to as “Niche Vases”. An exceptionally fine antique, created by one of the best English pottery firms, this piece would have been made during the era of Charles James Mason (“C.J.”) the third son of Miles and Sarah Spode Mason.
