A charming, early to mid 1800’s “Blue Willow” ironstone platter with an old metal plate hanger and chain for displaying on a wall.
The Blue Willow pattern began in England in 1780 when engraver Thomas Minton sold the pattern to Thomas Turner. This European interpretation of Chinese decorative style became known as chinoiserie and is popular to this day. Over 500 companies manufactured the Blue Willow pattern in different color combinations, but blue and white is still the most popular.
